MAIN SOURCE OF INCOME

BACKGROUND

'Main source of income' is the variable that identifies the source from which a person, or other statistical unit, receives the largest amount of their income.

This document is intended to be read in conjunction with the 'Total income' standard which supplies the question modules and the coding, along with the standard for 'Sources of income'.

Terminology used in this standard is defined in the Glossary (see Explanatory Notes tab).
